Phoenix officials, including Mayor Kate Gallego, broke ground on an affordable housing project, Dahlia Village, in the Valley last week.

The Arizona Industrial Development Authority last month approved the issuance of bonds for two affordable housing projects slated for the town of Goodyear.
The Estrella Springs development will bring 396 apartment units designed for families south of the southeast corner of Van Buren Street and the Loop 303. Its sister development, Suncrest Vista, will feature 261 units catering to seniors. Both developments will rent to low- and moderate-income tenants. Both projects are being developed by Minnesota-based Dominium Holdings.

A new housing development to alleviate senior homelessness in the Valley received approval for financing from the Arizona Industrial Development Authority last month.
Mercy Housing Inc., of Colorado, received approval for issuance of $35 million in bonds to build 148 low- and moderate-income units at the northeast corner of 50th Avenue and Glenn Drive. Mercy indicated the Glendale Senior Apartments will also bring in unhoused seniors. Among the amenities will be solar arrays to help bring down energy costs. Mercy has been developing affording housing for more than 40 years.

Glendale – A new development funded by bonds secured through the Arizona Industrial Development Authority for low- and moderate-income residents broke ground Friday.
The $120 million project became a reality after the Arizona IDA gave approval to issue $70 million in bonds. The sale of the bonds closed this week for the project on 67th Avenue south of Glendale Avenue and developer Gorman and Co. plans to complete construction in less than two years.

The Arizona Industrial Development Authority agreed to be a conduit for $20 million in bonds for an Indiana company to build new affordable housing units in Glendale.
The 105-unit project will be built on the southwest corner of 47th and Glendale avenues. Indianapolis-based TWG Development is constructing two, three-story buildings that will lease to tenants who meet the income qualifications.
