塞多纳经济适用房项目开工建设
PHOENIX — Sedona is getting an affordable housing community after a construction management firm announced the groundbreaking of The Villas on Shelby.
On 1.2 acres owned by the city of Sedona, Wespac Residential Inc. is constructing a three-story apartment complex. There will be 24 one-bedroom units and six three-bedroom units.
Amenities will include covered parking, a community room, a fitness area and a playground.
If all goes according to plan, apartment construction will be finished in May 2026. Residents would be able to move in at the same time.
“This project is a testament to what can be achieved through strong partnerships and a commitment to community impact,” Wespac Residential Inc. Senior Project Manager Ian Fawley said in a press release Friday. “We’re proud to bring this development to life in Sedona, where the need is urgent and the outcome will directly benefit residents who help make this city thrive.”
The groundbreaking was made possible by “federal low-income housing tax credits” and Arizona’s State Housing Trust Funds. It is Sedona’s first affordable housing project to receive such federal funding.
The city of Phoenix has been taking steps toward additional affordable housing, with Mayor Kate Gallego hinting in April at projects between downtown and Sky Harbor International Airport.
